Pantograph Monitoring

Train, tram or electric bus pantographs as subjected to significant wear and require regular maintenance to mitigate power supply failures and service disruption. Monitoring the integrity of both the train pantograph and its contact with the power line can be achieved using YelTech’s innovative and highly reliable real time vibration and temperature sensors.

Real-time Monitoring

YelTech has collaborated in the development of the Sensor YEL-V400 with Broadsens. This versatile and robust sensor can be used across many applications (also see void monitoring) and integrates MEMS triaxial accelerometer that measures up to 64g.

YEL-V400 has the option of a single M6 screw hole case or double screw hole case but can be customized to fit into any train pantograph. A lightweight robust sensor weighing in at only 56g and only 34mm diameter and 31mm height, it fits any dynamic structure. The sensor sends out vibration velocity RMS, acceleration RMS, and temperature data in real-time. The sampling rate is adjusted dynamically based on the vibration level. The high-speed sampling is fixed at 6400Hz.
