Bogie/Bearing Health Monitoring

Yeltech’s wireless vibration, temperature, and ultrasonic sensor solutions can monitor corrosion/degradation and cracks on critical bogie components online, and detect loosening issues on bearings and bolts due to vibration.

For corrosion and crack monitoring, dynamic compact piezoelectric sensors are mounted on key areas to monitor damage changes and corrosion through thickness measurements. Bolt and Bearing changes are detected through vibration velocity RMS and acceleration RMS measurements. Threshold levels can be set up to notify the operator in order to schedule maintenance and mitigate failure of components.

Track Monitoring – Rail Gauge Spread (RGS)

Gauge defects are the most common cause of derailments.Tight or wide gauge adversely affects train rides causing severe hunting during emergency stops, rough ride conditions especially in switches/crossing and ultimately risks derailment and disruption.

The Yeltech solution is to install several intelligent sensors along the rail web inside the 4-foot reflecting against the opposite rail. Any gauge changes are detected statically and dynamically and alarms can be set to match pre-defined parameters for data from jointed and CWR track on a variety of curves and lines speeds.
